PILG IS FINALLY HERE!
The countdown is almost over! The Public Interest Law Gathering (PILG) 2026 takes place on 26 and 27 October at the University of the Witwatersrand, bringing together public interest lawyers, human rights defenders, activists, researchers and civil society organisations to engage on the challenges facing human rights and constitutional democracy in South Africa.
Under the theme of Defending the Promise of the Constitution, this year’s gathering will confront some of the pressing questions of our time, from land and housing justice to gender based violence, climate justice, migration, education and the growing cost of defending human rights.
Over two days, we will reflect, exchange ideas and strengthen our collective efforts to advance justice, accountability and the rights of all.
Venue: Chalsty Centre, Wits University
