In January 2024, Lawyers for Human Rights facilitated a consultation for 40 young people, concerning the White Paper on Citizenship, Immigration, and Refugee Protection. The White Paper was published by the Department of Home Affairs for comment in November 2023. This submission is the concerted voice of eight of these young people, highlighting their concerns and recommendations on the proposed changes to the citizenship, immigration, and refugee framework in South Africa.
